The o7 EP takes its inspiration from the science fiction video game Elite Dangerous, which has provided hours of immersive escapism for thousands like me since its release in 2014.

I wanted to produce a freely available selection of tracks that achieve two things; giving other players something new to add to their playlists, whilst also presenting myself with the challenge of scoring original material that acts as a testbed for several newly purchased sample libraries.

The title is a shorthand greeting between players in a number of science fiction video games. The o7 is designed to look like a salute.

This EP & the music within it is inspired by the source material but is in no way officially linked, licensed or commissioned by the owner's of the game, Frontier Developments. The work contained herewith represents a creative response as a fan & active member of the player base for several years- no more, no less. The game's official soundtrack was composed by Erasmus Talbot and is an amazing selection of pieces. My work does not incorporate any themes, ideas or arrangements from this.
